DMS' approach is simple – the right people, doing the right work.

The right work is understanding and respecting the four pillars of investor protection that are fundamental to the success of the hedge fund industry. Today, hedge fund investors expect that:

  1. their investments will be managed in accordance with the fund’s investment objectives;
  2. the assets of the fund will be kept safe;
  3. when they redeem they will get their pro-rata share of the fund’s assets; and
  4. the fund will be managed for the benefit of the fund’s investors and not its service providers.

DMS has developed its own best practice methodology and Code of Conduct based on international standards of corporate governance.

The right people are independent – free of conflicting loyalties – and those who have a deep understanding of hedge fund culture with the right experience, skills and personal attributes. They also need to be supported with sufficient resources to work collaboratively and effectively – at the speed the market moves.

The right people recognize that ineffective work can range from simple ‘rubber stamping’ to excess involvement in the details. A director may possess sound professional credentials, yet lack the personal attributes to work comfortably and effectively within the hedge fund culture. These individuals may be marginally effective at best, dysfunctional and disruptive at worst.

The right people have real experience, develop real relationships and deliver real results – DMS has these people.
